Global Base Oils Cargo Flows: Week To 15 May

  • Taiwan's base oils exports in first-half May remained below March and April levels, extending the recent slowdown in shipments from that market

  • Singapore took delivery of a large northwest Europe cargo likely arranged before end-February disruptions tightened European availability

  • US Gulf coast shipments continued to reach Nigeria, but the lack of fresh cargo fixtures pointed to slower flows ahead.

Asia

·         Cargo of light and heavy-grade Group II base oils loaded from Taiwan in recent days before heading to Indonesia, set to arrive next week.

·         Taiwan’s base oils exports in first-half May remained lower than during the same period in March and April.

·         Singapore took delivery in the past week of a large shipment from northwest Europe that set off from that market in first-half March.

·         The shipment was the second-largest from Europe in more than a year.

·         Cargo of Group III base oils loaded from Indonesia in first-half May before heading to northwest Europe, set to arrive in first-half June.

Europe

·         Cargo of premium-grade base oils loaded from Spain last week before heading to northwest Europe, set to arrive in the coming days.

·         Cargo loaded from northwest Europe this week before heading to Nigeria, set to arrive in early June.

·         Cargo loaded from northwest Europe in first-half May before heading to South Africa, set to arrive in early June.

Americas

·         Cargo loaded from US Gulf coast this week before heading to India, set to arrive in late June.

·         Cargo loaded from US Gulf coast at end-March before heading to India, set to arrive in the coming days.

·         Large cargo loaded from US West coast in second-half April before heading to northwest Europe, set to arrive in coming week.

·         Large cargo reached Nigeria in recent days after loading from US Gulf coast in early April.
