Asia’s lube demand rose in June for a second month as firm consumption in India and South Korea countered weaker demand in southeast Asia.Total lube demand of close to 750,000t in June rose by 3pc from year-earlier levels, government and industry data showed.The volume edged down from around 760,000t the previous month.The volume includes demand in the largest markets in northeast and southeast Asia, excluding China.Excluding India, lube demand fell by 2pc and for the third time in four months from year-earlier levels.The lower demand reflected slower consumption in markets like Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines.Regional demand was still higher than expected.Consumption of 2.20mn t in the second quarter of the year fell by 255,000t from 2.46mn t during the first three months of the year.The slowdown was smaller than the 410,000t contraction during the same period last year..Philippines’ June lube imports fall
