China’s base oils imports rose to a three-month high in September ahead of an expected seasonal pick-up in lube demand from the end of the third quarter.Base oils imports of 161,300t in September rebounded from less than 105,000t in July and in August, government data showed.The volume rose by 8pc and for a seventh month from year-earlier levels.The sustained rise in shipments lifted total imports to 1.40mn t in the first nine months of the year.The volume was almost the same as year-earlier levels of 1.44mn t during the same period.This year’s imports had lagged year-earlier levels by 7pc in the first six months of the year.Imports of premium-grade base oils from the Mideast Gulf rose in September to a four-month high of more than 88,000t.Imports from Singapore and South Korea were also higher than usual..S Korea’s Sept exports to China rise.Taiwan’s Sept base oil exports hold firm
