The UK’s base oils exports fell to a four-month low in January, with almost half the volume moving to Africa.

Total exports of 18,750t in January fell from almost 26,000t the previous month to the lowest since September.

The exports included a 9,000t shipment bound for Nigeria. The cargo was the largest from the UK to the West African country in more than two years.

The fall in exports mirrored a similar drop in the UK’s base oils output in January.
