Turkey’s June base oils exports rise

Turkey’s base oils exports rose in June, repeating an unusual surge in shipments a few months earlier.

Group I base oils exports of 4,000t in June were the largest since December 2021, government data showed. There had been almost no exports in the intervening months.

The rise in exports followed a pick-up in domestic base oils production from March.

Exports of premium-grade base oils rose to more than 60,000t in June.

The volume was unusual in view of Turkey’s lack of premium-grade base oils production capacity.

The shipments followed a similar wave of exports in March. Those supplies reached the Netherlands in April.

The June shipments were bound for Belgium and the US.
