Base oils exports from US, Asia and Europe to the Mideast Gulf rose in August to a four-month high, extending a surge in shipments to the region over the past year.Total base oils exports of close to 42,000t in August to the UAE and Saudi Arabia combined edged up from the previous month and rose more than threefold from year-earlier levels, government data showed.Total shipments of 346,000t to the two countries in the first eight months of the year rose by 65pc from less than 210,000t during the same period last year.Exports of around101,000t from Europe during that period were steady from year-earlier levels.Exports of more than 40,000t from the US during that period rose by 78pc from year-earlier levels.Exports from Asia more than doubled to more than 200,000t during that period and accounted for almost 60pc of total shipments.The share was up from around 40pc of the lower total during the same period last year..Asia’s Aug exports to Mideast Gulf stay high
