Asia’s base oils exports to the Mideast Gulf stayed unusually high in August, extending a surge in shipments to the region over the past year.Base oils exports of more than 32,000t to UAE and Saudi Arabia combined in August edged down from close to 35,000t the previous month, government data showed.Exports rose for the seventh time in eight months from year-earlier levels, lifting total shipments to almost 204,000t in the first eight months of the year.The volume was up from less than 86,000t during the same period last year.Exports stayed high in August despite a sharp slowdown in shipments from South Korea.Unusually high shipments from Thailand and Taiwan almost fully cushioned the slowdown in supplies from the northeast Asian country.The trend reflected the pick-up in increasingly regular supplies from a growing number of sources in Asia this year..S Korea’s August exports to India rise.Thailand’s August base oils exports fall
