Europe’s imports of premium-grade base oils from the Mideast Gulf rose to a ten-month high in June, easing the impact of plant-maintenance in the region.Base oils imports from Bahrain and UAE came to close to 31,000t in June, government data showed.The volume fell from almost 37,000t in May, but held well above typical levels of less than 19,000 t/month in the year to April 2023.Several key Group III base oils plants are situated in the UAE and Bahrain.Including supplies from Qatar, Europe’s imports of more than 65,000t in June rose from 63,700t the previous month to the highest since August 2022.Total imports from the three countries rose to more than 318,000t in first-half 2023.The volume was up more than 40pc from close to 226,000t during the same period last year..Spain’s July Cartagena premium-grade exports rise
