South Korea’s base oils exports to India and the UAE held firm in September amid a drop in arbitrage shipments to the regions from other markets.Base oils exports of 68,300t to India in September were steady from the previous month and close to the highest since April, government data showed.Exports firmed after falling below the 60,000 t/month level for three months to July.The slowdown coincided with plant maintenance work in South Korea and with a wave of arbitrage shipments from the US to India.The rise in shipments since August followed the completion of the maintenance work and a slowdown in arbitrage shipments from the US.Base oils exports of 14,200t to the UAE in September rose from 11,700t the previous month.The sustained wave of shipments boosted total shipments to the UAE to 143,200t in the first nine months of the year.
