  • Bhuvi Petroleum posts fastest growth as imports surge

Savita Oil Technologies remained India’s largest base oils importer in 2025, extending its lead for at least a sixth straight year and tapping into the country’s fast-growing lube consumption.

Savita, which derives most of its revenue from specialty oils like transformer oils and white oils, increased its share of India’s base oils imports to close to 16% in 2025, holding above the 15% threshold for a third straight year.

Savita stays top

India’s base oils imports climbed to more than 4.1 million tonnes in 2025, rising 9% year on year to their highest level since 2021.

The growth in imports tracked India’s lube consumption, which rose by 8% to more than 4.8 million tonnes in 2025, underlining the country’s continued reliance on overseas supplies.

That dynamic could begin to shift in 2026 as new domestic production capacity comes online and covers more of the country’s rising lube consumption.
