Singapore’s base oils exports rose over the past week to the fifth-highest level this year amid higher flows to India and Indonesia.
Total exports of more than 57,000t in the week to September 13 rose from less than 32,000t last week, government data showed.
The shipments extended a period of higher-than-usual exports over the past month and contrasted with lower volumes during the second quarter of the year.
Indonesia continued to attract an increasingly large volume of supplies.
Total shipments to Indonesia held at more than 36,000t over the last four weeks combined.
Exports to the southeast Asian country had averaged closer to 27,000t every four weeks in first-half 2023.
The higher volumes lifted exports to Indonesia above shipment volumes to China and to India.
Before May this year, exports to China had previously typically exceeded volumes to Indonesia.
