Savita India’s largest June base oil importer

Savita Oil Technologies was India’s largest base oils importer in June for the sixth time in seven months.

The blender’s supplies accounted for more than 17pc of India’s total base oil imports in June, provisional customs data showed. The share rose from less than 12pc the previous month.

India’s base oil imports fell in June to a one-year low of less than 310,000t amid a drop in shipments of very light grade base oils especially.

Imports of light and heavy-grade Group II base oils were steadier.

The country’s lube demand continued to rise strongly in June on the back of firm economic growth.

Gandhar Oil Refinery was India’s second-largest base oils importer in June, with a share of close to 10pc of the total.

Raj Petro Specialities was the third-largest importer in June. It had been the largest importer in May. Its share of base oil imports came to more than 8pc of the June total, down from around 12pc the previous month.

State-owned Indian Oil Corp was India’s seventh-largest base oil importer in June, with a share of close to 5pc of the total. The share was steadier and larger than usual.

Its May imports had been the first in four months and up from a share of little more than 2pc of total supplies in 2021.
