Australia’s lubricating oil demand rose for a twelfth month in July on the back of sustained strength in the industrial oils segment of the market.Total lube consumption of 26,300 kilolitres (23,300t) in July rose by 3pc from year-earlier levels, government data showed. The steady rise in demand lifted total consumption to 183,400kl in the first seven months of the year, up 5pc from 174,100kl during the same period last year. The rising demand contrasted with a slowdown in consumption throughout many key markets in southeast Asia.Demand got support from a 16pc rise in industrial oils consumption in August and in the first eight months of the year.Consumption of heavy-duty engine oils also extended its rise. Demand rose 3pc in August and for the fourth time in five months.Consumption of passenger-car engine oils (PCMO) was the outlier, with demand shrinking this year. But PCMO demand also rose in August for the second time in three months.. Asia’s July lube demand falls
