Taiwan’s August base oil exports to India rise

Taiwan’s base oils exports to India recovered in August following an unusual pause in flows the previous month.

Exports to southeast Asia edged lower in August amid a slump in shipments to Singapore.

Total exports to India rose close to 9,400t in August, up from less than 300t the previous month, government data showed.

Exports to India had averaged almost 11,000 t/month in the four months to June.

Base oils exports of less than 6,600t to southeast Asia in August were similar to the previous month but down from more than 12,500t in May and in June.

Exports of close to 16,000t in August to India and southeast Asia combined lagged the volume of shipments to China for the first time in four months.

Before mid-2022, China had almost always been the destination for the most of Taiwan’s base oils shipments.
