New R&D Facility Expands Technical Capabilities Across Lubricants, Additives, Greases, Specialty Chemicals, and Immersion Cooling
AUGUST 17, 2026
LEXINGTON, Ky. — ProFluid, LLC today announced the launch of its new Global Innovation & Technology Center in Lexington, Kentucky, significantly expanding the company's research, development, testing, and technical service capabilities. The 4,000-square-foot facility will serve as ProFluid's primary hub for innovation, product development, validation, pilot-scale manufacturing, engine testing, and customer collaboration across lubricants, greases, additives, specialty chemicals, racing technologies, immersion cooling, and emerging performance solutions.
As part of the initiative, ProFluid is investing more than $3 million in the center’s first phase. The investment includes advanced laboratory instrumentation, engine and equipment testing, pilot manufacturing systems, technical talent, customer education programs, and research to support customers across North America and global markets.
Located in Kentucky's Bluegrass Region, the facility is about 30 minutes from ProFluid's expanded specialty component manufacturing and packaging operation in McKee, Kentucky. Together, the two locations form an integrated innovation and manufacturing platform that connects research, formulation, pilot production, commercial manufacturing, and technical support—accelerating development and improving quality, responsiveness, and time to market.
Designed as both an internal R&D center and a collaborative customer innovation hub, the Global Innovation & Technology Center will offer lubricant manufacturers, OEMs, distributors, grease producers, additive suppliers, and industrial companies direct access to world-class technical resources.
"This expansion marks a defining milestone in ProFluid's evolution," said Steve Plitt, Chief Executive Officer of ProFluid, LLC. “Our vision has always been to build more than a traditional company focused on a single market segment—we’re building a technology- and solutions-based company spanning a broad range of petrochemical platforms. This investment strengthens our ability to innovate faster, develop differentiated products, and provide customers with the technical expertise needed to compete in a rapidly evolving marketplace."
"Innovation is most successful when customers are part of the development process," said Jacob Bonta, Vice President of Research & Development. "By bringing advanced analytical and tribological capabilities together with formulation expertise under one roof, we can accelerate innovation from concept to commercialization."
Tim Taggart, Chief Financial Officer, added:
"This investment extends well beyond a new facility. It reflects a long-term commitment to technology, infrastructure, and technical talent, strengthening our competitive position and creating greater value for our customers."
