Turkey’s Group I base oils imports rose in February to the second-highest level in fourteen months amid low domestic production and surplus availability of supplies in Europe.
Base oils imports of 31,390t in February recovered from 22,220t the previous month, government data showed.
The volume was up from typical levels of less than 25,000 t/month over the past year.
The rise in imports coincided with and helped to cover for a halt in Turkey’s domestic base oils production in January.
