Base oils imports from UAE rise in Sept

The delivery of premium-grade base oils from the UAE to key global outlets rose to a sixteen-month high in September amid a surge in supplies to Asia and the US.

The US, Asia and Europe combined took delivery of more than 62,000t of base oils from the UAE in September, government and customs data showed.

The supplies rose from already-high volumes of more than 55,000t in August to the highest since May 2022.

Total supplies of close to 360,000t in the first nine months of the year still lagged levels around 380,000t during the same period last year.

The September volume included a rebound in supplies to Asia to an eighteen-month high.

China’s imports especially rebounded strongly in September compared with the previous three months.

Asia and the US combined accounted for around 60,000t of the UAE’s September shipments, amid a slump in flows bound for Europe.
