Europe’s lubricating oil demand fell in May for an eighth month as weak consumption in France and Germany countered steadier demand in Italy.The pace of the contraction slowed in most markets except for France.Total demand of close to 210,000t in May fell by 9pc from year-earlier levels of 229,000t.Consumption rose by more than 25,000t from around 182,000t in April.The rise in consumption in May 2022 from the previous month was less than 6,000t.The volume was derived from demand from eight countries in Europe, including its four largest markets.The pace of the drop in consumption could slow further in June amid signs of a more widespread pick-up in demand in the Mediterranean region..Italy’s June lube demand rises
