Savita India’s largest base oils importer in April

Savita Oil Technologies was India’s largest base oils importer in April for the sixteenth time in seventeen months even as its share of total imports fell sharply from March.

The blender accounted for almost 12pc of India’s total base oils imports in April, provisional customs data showed. The share was down from more than 22pc the previous month.

The March share was unusually high. The April share was closer to its 2021 share of more than 14pc of India’s total imports.

India’s base oils imports recovered to a nine-month high of more than 300,000t in April.

Columbia Petro Chem was India’s second-largest base oils importer in April with a share of more than 9pc of the total. The share was much larger than usual.

Its share rose from close to 1pc of the total in March and little more than 2pc of the total in 2022.

Gandhar Oil Refinery was India’s third-largest base oils importer in April with a share of close to 9pc of the total, up from less than 7pc the previous month.

Apar Industries was the fourth-largest importer and Panama Petrochem the fifth-largest.
