Spore’s March base oils imports fall

Singapore’s base oils imports fell to a five-month low in March amid a pause in shipments from Europe and slowdown in supplies from Japan.

Rising volumes from China and Saudi Arabia cushioned the slowdown.

Imports of 58,470t in March fell from 65,730t the previous month, government data showed. The volume was the lowest since last October.

Imports got a boost in recent months from a large volume of supplies from the Netherlands.

The pause in shipments from that country extended into April.

Imports from China extended their rise in March to a more-than-six year high.

The shipments suggested the country’s domestic supplies remained sufficient even amid a gradual recovery in demand.
