Indonesia’s Group III base oils exports reverted to more typical levels in September after shipments surged in August to a thirteen-month high.
Total exports of 18,500t in September fell from 28,000t the previous month, government data showed.
The high August volume followed a fall in shipments in July to unusually low levels of less than 9,000t.
The sharp change in volumes between the two months could have reflected different cargo-loading schedules more than a longer-term change in base oils output.
The September exports were closer to more typical volumes of more than 16,000 t/month over the past year.
The reversion of shipments to more typical levels suggested base oils output remained steady.
The September shipments included an 8,500t cargo bound for the Netherlands and a 10,000t cargo bound for South Korea.
There were no shipments to China for a third month.
