India’s imports of Group III 4cst and 8cst base oils rose to an eight-month high in April amid a rebound in deliveries of the heavier-grade product.

Imports of 4cst and 8cst base oils combined rose to more than 25,000t in April, provisional customs data showed.

The volume rose from less than 21,000t the previous month to the highest since last August.

The increase reflected a rise in shipments of 8cst base oils to more than 15,000t, from less than 10,000t the previous month.

The rise in shipments followed a fall in India’s imported Group III 8cst base oils prices to a discount to Group II heavy-grade prices for the first time this year.

Imports of 4cst base oils fell in April to a four-month low of less than 11,000t.
