India’s June Group II imports rise

India’s Group II base oils imports rose to an eleven-month high in June mostly because of a jump in shipments of mid-viscosity-grade supplies from the US.

Total Group II base oils imports of more than 95,000t in June rose from less than 75,000t the previous month, provisional customs data showed.

Imports of light-grade base oils got a boost from a rise in shipments from the Mideast Gulf, US and Taiwan.

The volumes outweighed a slowdown in supplies from South Korea and especially Singapore, whose shipments fell to a nine-month low.

Imports of heavy-grade base oils rose mostly because of a pick-up in shipments from South Korea.

Imports of mid-viscosity grades surged following the delivery of more than 17,000t of the product from the US. The volume was the highest from the US in well over a year.
