Mexico’s lubricating oil demand fell in July for a third month to its lowest in almost two years, adding to signs of more mixed lube consumption throughout Latin America.
Lubricants consumption of around 53,000kl (47,000t) in July fell from more than 57,000kl the previous month and by 9pc from year-earlier levels, government data showed.
Total consumption of 412,000kl in the first seven months of the year remained up 2pc from year-earlier levels even with the fall in demand.
The pace of the increase slowed from 11pc growth in the first four months of the year.
Mexico’s lube demand slowed in July even as the country’s industrial production held firm and automobile sales extended their rise for a seventh month.
