Brazil’s base oils output fell to a five-month low in August amid lower supply from all the country’s refineries that produce base oils.

Total base oils output of close to 42,000mᶟ (37,200t) in August fell from 49,700mᶟ the previous month, government data showed.

Even with the slowdown, base oils output of 391,000mᶟ in the first eight months of the year was up from around 366,000mᶟ during the same period last year.

Output fell in August on the back of a dip in production at Petrobras’ Reduc base oils unit to a five-month low.

Output fell despite a rise in the refinery’s total refined products output, including diesel.

Base oils output fell to a five-month low at the Lubnor refinery in August and to a two-month low at the Mataripe refinery.
