Lubricating oil demand in the Americas region fell to a five-month low in February amid lower consumption in the US and Latin America.Demand still rose from year-earlier levels for a sixth month.Total consumption of close to 587,500t in February fell from almost 662,000t the previous month, government and industry data showed.The volume consisted of supplies from the US, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina combined.Demand was up 2pc from year-earlier levels of around 577,000t.The region’s firm demand contrasted with weaker consumption in Asia-Pacific and in Europe early this year.The firm demand continued to support a steady flow of arbitrage base oils shipments to Latin America especially.Consumption of more than 144,000t in that region in February rose by 6pc and for a third straight month from year-earlier levels..Europe’s Feb lube demand improves.Contact us for more information about the data for these stories
