Uganda’s April base oils/lube imports hold firm

Uganda’s base oils and lube imports held firm in April amid signs of stronger economic growth.

Imports of 5,730 kilolitres (5,080t) in April rose from 5,080kl the previous month and by 19pc from year-earlier levels, provisional customs data showed.

The year-on-year increase was the fifth in six months.

Base oils imports rose in April to a three-month high of more than 2,000kl.

The UAE was the source of most of the supplies. Group I heavy neutrals accounted for most of its volume.

Kenya was the source of most of Uganda’s lubricants supplies in April, with the UAE the second-largest supplier.
