Singapore’s base oils exports to southeast Asia rose in October for the eighth time in nine months amid a sustained rise in shipments to Indonesia.Base oils exports of 70,700t to southeast Asia in October rose from 65,100t the previous month, government data showed.The rise in shipments lifted total exports to 690,900t in the first ten months of the year. The volume rose from 654,700t during the same period last year to the highest in at least six years.The rise in shipments to Indonesia accounted for most of the increase.Exports of 38,000t to Indonesia in October rose by 40pc and for a sixth month from year-earlier levels.The volume of shipments to Indonesia more than countered a slowdown in exports to other markets in the region.Exports of 32,700t to the rest of southeast Asia fell by 13pc in October and for the eleventh time in twelve months from year-earlier levels.Singapore’s exports to Indonesia lagged its shipments to China in October, but by less than 400t.Exports to Indonesia previously exceeded shipments to China in three of the four months to September.They exceeded exports to China three times in 2022.
