India’s Group II base oils imports rose in November to the highest in at least thirty-five months amid a surge in shipments of mid-viscosity grades from the US.Total Group II base oil imports of more than 110,000t in November rose from close to 100,000t the previous month, provisional customs data showed.Imports rose by 36pc and for a sixth month from year-earlier levels, boosting total shipments to more than 1.0mn t in the first eleven months of the year.The 6pc rise in Group II imports from the previous year contrasted with a 9pc fall in India’s total base oils imports so far this year.The trend reflected sustained demand for supplies used to produce finished lubricants such as high-quality engine oils.Imports of Group II heavy grades in November held at close to 50,000t for a fourth month.
