Taiwan’s July base oils exports to SE Asia/India fall

Taiwan’s base oils exports to India almost paused in July, while shipments to southeast Asia fell to a three-month low.

The slowdown likely reflected the impact of delayed shipments rather than a structural change in trade flows.

Exports of less than 300t to India in July fell from more than 8,900t in May and in June, government data showed.

Exports to India averaged close to 10,000 t/month over the past year.

Base oils exports of 6,800t to southeast Asian markets like Singapore fell from more than 12,700t in May and in June.

Cargo loadings were delayed in second-half July as a major typhoon passed the island before moving on to China.

Base oils exports from Taiwan rebounded sharply in first-half August, including large shipments bound for India.
