Brazil’s base oils supply lagged demand in September by the largest amount in more than three years amid an unusually steep slump in supply.Base oils supply, or imports and domestic output combined, fell to 80,400mᶟ (71,000t) in September, government data showed.The volume fell from more than 140,000mᶟ the previous month and from more than 122,000mᶟ the same time a year earlier.Supply fell because of a simultaneous slump in base oils output and imports.Brazil’s demand, or consumption and base oils exports combined, came to 104,000mᶟ in September.The volume fell by less than 10,000mᶟ from August and rose by 11pc from year-earlier levels.
